Geoplan Ltd. has been operating as an acknowledged engineering designer and expert company in the Hungarian geotechnical and soil mechanics market since 1990 within the framework of a family business. The company has 10 employees, 8 of which are engineers. Our activities range from the size of individual small investments to nationwide tasks.

Our main profile is classic geotechnical - soil mechanical design and expert activity; soil investigation report, geotechnical design reports, furthermore foundation plans, civil engineering plans, and damage inspections of the entire spectrum of the construction industry, from family houses to major investments. Our special areas are geotechnical project management, geotechnical 3D modelling & fine element analysis and soil dynamics.

Field tests (large-diameter drilling, core drilling, CPT tests) and laboratory investigations are performed by 2 to 3 permanent, reliable and well-prepared subcontractors.

We carry out our activities in Hungarian, English and German as required. Our company has ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System and Designers' Liability Insurance.

HISTORY OF THE COMPANY

Since its establishment in 1990, Geoplan Ltd. has been operating as an acknowledged geotechnical - soil mechanical design company and expert on the Hungarian engineering design market. The foundation of the company is based on the traditions of a multi-generational family of engineers. The first-generation expert, Imre Szilvágyi PhD started his career at the Budapest University of Technology, working with such well-known professors as Károly Széchy and József Jáky. After the period of education Imre Szilvágyi started to work as an expert in the large Hungarian design company – FTV Co. with a wide range of practical design assignments. His son, László Szilvágyi, followed the paternal traditions and founded Geoplan Ltd., which has become one of the leading companies in the field of geotechnical engineering in Hungary. In addition to the practical design tasks, he places great emphasis on the tasks of professional public life and interest representation as a member of the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, in addition as the head of the Geotechnical Department.

The greatest recognition of the geotechnical profession in Hungary, the Széchy Award, was given to Dr. Imre Szilvágyi in 2006 and László Szilvágyi in 2016. The third generation has also joined the work of the family business, Gergely and Zsolt are both involved in the company's activities. Zsolt graduated as a Structural and Geotechnical Engineer, acquired experience in structural design, then received his PhD degree in the field of soil dynamics and also gained teaching experience.
